Hands

Though not elected
You were selected

To the highest office in the land
With all power held in your hand

The power that rocked the cradle
That lifted up when we weren't able

The power that wiped all tears away
Whose touch healed wounds gotten at play

The power that cleaned the house and baked the bread
And wielded a comb through each nappy head

The power that guided to what is right
And protected from monsters on scary nights

The power to give continually and receive nothing in return
Teaching all there was to learn

The power that lifted up in love
Such power comes solely from above

So with a grateful hand all salute and say
You deserve so much love and Happy Mother's Day
