VICTUALS

Tough meat!  One day while wrestling with my meal, I was interrupted.  I was glad.  It was a rough meal!

The meat was hard to chew and even harder to swallow.  This I knew before-hand, but I thought I’d give it a try anyway.  I needed the nourishment.  The meal consisted of things that were, by sight familiar, but by taste, they were very foreign.  I ate it anyway.  It was filling, it satisfied my hunger.

My meal was interrupted by a preacher.  A preacher who told me words of God’ s wisdom.  A preacher who told me I had a deeper hunger that needed to be fed.  A preacher who showed me a better way of life, and death.  A preacher who offered me a spiritual meal.

My first meal was interrupted and I was glad.  The second meal that was offered me, made me sad.  Sad because it was just like the first.  It was full of things that were familiar to me.  It was full of things that would nourish me and satisfy me.  I tasted it.  It was hard to chew so I did not swallow.  It was a rough meal.  Tough meat!
